Learning Bee In Action

Welcome sign on classroom door

At A Learning Bee Academy, we believe early childhood education should nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Our preschool program combines hands-on STEM learning, play-based exploration, and strong teacher-child relationships to help children build the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. Through engaging daily activities, structured routines, and supportive guidance from experienced early childhood educators, children are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas, and grow socially and emotionally.

Our classrooms focus on creating a warm, safe, and supportive environment where every child feels valued. Teachers work closely with families to understand each child’s unique strengths and interests, allowing learning experiences to be both meaningful and developmentally appropriate. By combining a strong academic foundation with social-emotional development, we help prepare children to become confident learners and thoughtful members of their community.

Families who choose A Learning Bee Academy are joining a preschool community that values communication, safety, and high-quality early learning.

At A Learning Bee Academy, the safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. Our licensed early childhood education program follows strict safety procedures, including secure building access, daily facility safety checks, and regular inspections of classrooms and playground areas. All staff members are trained in emergency preparedness and participate in ongoing safety training, including monthly fire drills and emergency evacuation drills throughout the year. We maintain a comprehensive emergency response plan and work closely with families to ensure clear communication in the event of any emergency. Through careful supervision, well-maintained facilities, and consistent safety practices, we create a secure and supportive learning environment where children can explore, learn, and grow with confidence.

Parents who would like to review our complete safety and security policies can find full details on our Parent Resources page.

Qualified Preschool Teachers You Can Trust

At A Learning Bee Academy, we carefully select teachers who are passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, nurturing learning environment. Our educators are chosen based on their education, experience, and ability to support the developmental needs of young children through positive guidance and developmentally appropriate teaching practices. All staff members meet State of Indiana licensing requirements, including background checks, CPR and First Aid certification, and training in safe sleep and child safety procedures. Many of our teachers hold or are pursuing degrees or credentials in early childhood education and participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen their skills in classroom management, STEM learning, and social-emotional development. Through strong supervision, consistent ratios, and continued training, our teachers help create a supportive preschool environment where children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Our teachers meet or exceed Indiana childcare licensing standards, including:

✔ Background checks and state licensing compliance
✔ CPR, First Aid, and Safe Sleep certification
✔ Early childhood education coursework or credentials
✔ Ongoing professional development and training
✔ Commitment to safe supervision and state classroom ratios

Teacher-Child Supervision

Maintaining proper supervision is essential to providing high-quality early childhood education. At A Learning Bee Academy, we strictly follow the State of Indiana licensing requirements for teacher-to-child ratios to ensure that every child receives the attention, care, and guidance they need throughout the day. Our classrooms are carefully staffed so that children are always supervised by qualified teachers, and additional support is provided whenever needed to maintain safe ratios.

Teachers are responsible for direct supervision of children at all times and work closely with administration to ensure classrooms remain within state guidelines. This allows our educators to build strong relationships with each child, support social and emotional development, and create a safe preschool environment where learning can thrive.

Our supervision standards include:

✔ Following Indiana state childcare licensing ratios
✔ Continuous direct supervision of children
✔ Teachers never leaving classrooms out of ratio
✔ Support staff available when additional assistance is needed
✔ Safe classroom transitions and monitored learning spaces

How We Supervise Children Throughout the Day

At A Learning Bee Academy, active supervision is a core part of our approach to keeping children safe while they learn, explore, and play. Our teachers provide direct supervision at all times and remain actively engaged with children throughout the day during classroom learning, meals, transitions, outdoor play, and activities. Staff members are trained to stay aware of their surroundings, anticipate potential safety concerns, and maintain clear sight and sound supervision of every child in their care.

Our classrooms operate according to the State of Indiana childcare licensing standards, which require appropriate teacher-to-child ratios and constant supervision. Teachers and administrative staff work together to ensure classrooms are always properly staffed, and additional support is provided as needed to maintain these ratios. If a teacher needs to step away from a classroom, another qualified staff member is always available to maintain safe supervision.

In addition to classroom supervision, our staff members perform regular safety checks throughout the day, quickly addressing any potential hazards and ensuring classrooms, play areas, and learning spaces remain safe and organized. Through careful supervision, consistent routines, and strong teacher-child relationships, we create a secure learning environment where children feel supported, confident, and ready to learn.

How We Communicate With Parents About Their Child’s Day

At A Learning Bee Academy, we believe strong communication between teachers and families is an essential part of a child’s success. Our teachers keep parents informed about their child’s day through regular updates, conversations, and our parent communication app. Families can expect to receive information about classroom activities, meals, rest time, learning milestones, and special moments that happen throughout the day.

We use Brightwheel, our secure parent communication platform, to share updates, photos, and important classroom information. This allows families to stay connected to their child’s preschool experience even while they are at work or away from the classroom. Teachers may also communicate through quick conversations at drop-off and pick-up, scheduled meetings, and messages through the app when needed.

By maintaining open and consistent communication, we create a strong partnership between teachers and families that supports each child’s social, emotional, and academic development.
