A Learning Bee Academy, The STEM School was established to offer families an affordable, family focused environment that will provide an authentic classroom experience where children will build on their natural curiosity and construct knowledge through a thematic curriculum that offers play, and project-based learning.
Social Emotional Learning
High-quality relationships correlate to positive outcomes for young children (Shonkoff, 2004). Brain research verifies that emotional and cognitive development are interrelated (Bell & Wolf, 2004). Young children who have strong social and emotional development are more likely to have good academic performance in school. How do we do this: The STEM School teaches the importance of relationships beginning as infants. Our environment welcomes and nurtures positive relationships. Our nursery room teachers are grandmothers, who work with each of our babies and their parents on language skills, recognizing themselves by face and by name.
Childhood Education and Development
STEM is not just an acronym; it is a philosophy of learning in childhood education and development Indianapolis.

It is a childhood education and development opportunity where children will build on their natural curiosity and construct knowledge through a thematic curriculum that offers play, and project-based learning.
A CHILD IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THEIR ENVIRONMENT:
In ISTEP scores from local schools that A Learning Bee Academy’s students could matriculate to as a kindergartner, the scores are less than encouraging. These schools had an 82-93% fail rate. The purpose of ISTEP is to measure the achievements of students in grades 3 through 8 in the areas of Reading, English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies www.idoe.edu/compass
We want to change these numbers. Through providing a STEM-focused curriculum and environment, we facilitating advanced learning putting our students ahead of their peers and setting them up for success in their future education. Our goal is to provide a private school type education to all children and close the gap of education determined by finances, thus allowing more lower-income families access to higher-level curriculum which in turn allows their student to do better in school and thus affording them opportunities they would not have had otherwise.
OUR VALUES
CREDIBLE CURRICULUM
A Learning Bee Academy provides credible STEM and project-based curriculum to challenge students and bring out their genius. We do this through evaluating curriculum, planning a specific number of projects per school year, and higher test scores.
INSPIRE DISCOVERY
We seek to create a student body that, with courage, examines and evaluates the environment around them. Creating students of action. We do this through school-wide community service projects, proof of kids respecting their environment through pictures, evaluating projects/classroom projects, and school assembly/play created by students explaining what inspire/discovery means to them.
COMPREHENSIVE INQUISITIVENESS
We seek to arouse a curiosity in students that instills a lifelong passion for learning about the world around them. We do this through visits by civic leaders, outdoor classroom/adventures, and creative field trip experiences.
